After tornadoes in Oklahoma and Arkansas this week, it’s probably worth keeping an eye on where the severe thunderstorms may track today.  The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK has identified two areas of concern today: the lower Mississippi River Valley and central through southern Florida.  Right now, thunderstorms are on going across much of central FL and a tornado watch is in effect until 6PM EST.  Back in MS/LA, there is only bright sunshine at the moment, but activity could develop later this afternoon and evening.

The tornado and wind threat is greater in FL, while hail is a bigger concern in the other hotspot.  You can always monitor the latest outlooks, discussions, and watches at the SPC web site.  Looking forward, the severe thunderstorm threat will continue across the Southeast tomorrow with AL, GA, the FL panhandle, and southern FL serving as the focus for hail, high winds and, potentially, tornadoes.
