Of course, the above outlook is only looking at temperatures relative to normal. So, temperatures will likely still climb into the 60s in places like Miami, Phoenix, and San Diego. In that same vein, temperatures in Minnesota may be “above normal”, but it won’t exactly be beach weather along the Canadian border.
This continues the trend of below normal temperatures for much of the U.S. this Winter, especially east of the Rockies. The past day or two provided some relief across much of this area (primarily South and East of Chicago) as temperatures rose above normal for many cities. If you live in one of these cities, I hope you enjoyed the break because it looks like it’s over. Another round of snow if moving through Texas and more cold air is being dumped into the South from Canada. It appears this below-normal temperature Winter will hang on for at least another week or two across much of the U.S.
