Snow continues in the DC Metro area and further north, just inland from the coast. It is snowing in NJ at the West Virginia/Rutgers game. Here at my abode in Northern VA near Dulles International Airport, it appears we’ve received around 2-3 inches so far. As you can see, there is a blanket of white, including some of the side streets.
I woke up to rain this morning around 8:00 AM. When I looked out at 8:15, snow flakes were beginning to mix in with the rain. By the time 8:30 rolled around, it was all snow and it quickly accumulated. The snow is expected to continue through much of the evening here before moving north and east.
Just as this storm is wrapping up, another big storm will begin forming in the Rockies. The heaviest snow will begin on Monday and likely push out into the central Plains during the middle of the week. It’s still a few days away, so it’s tough to say where the rain/snow boundary will exist and exactly how much snow will fall. The HPC is certainly expecting some heavy snow on Monday through Tuesday morning:
It appears the weather pattern may be becoming more active. At least for a short while. Should be interesting.
