Frost and freeze advisories are up in New England and northern Michigan. Meanwhile, a freeze watch is in effect in NW Colorado and eastern Utah. None of these occurrences are unusual, just a sign of Fall and the associated crisp weather.
Also, flood watches and warnings are in effect in the Southeast US as rain continues to fall. Tonight’s West Virginia/Auburn game was delayed due to lightning. According to the announcers, they received over two inches of rain during the storm. The field looks pretty good for that much rain (if the 2+ inches is indeed accurate.)
Finally, about that cold snap… not as cold as originally advertised. Models have changed the forecast and it appears only the northeast corner of the country will be affected by the cold weather (as well as eastern Canada). Just another reason to not trust long-term forecasts even if the ensemble forecast seems confident.
