Fred Forming Far From Florida

Alliteration aside, Tropical Depression Seven has formed in the far eastern Atlantic.  It is forecast to strengthen into a tropical storm in the next 12 hours.  At that point, it would receive the name of Fred.  Fortunately, it is forecast to turn northward quickly and avoid all land masses bordering the western Atlantic and Caribbean Sea.  If named, it will become the sixth named storm this season.  We’re about halfway through the 2009 Atlantic hurricane season, so there should be more storms in store.

Hope you have enjoyed your Labor Day weekend! (If you live in the US, of course.)
