Danny Dissipates; Erika’s Chances Weakening

The NHC issued the last advisories on what had become Tropical Depression Danny this morning.  TD Danny was quickly being immersed in a trough of low pressure pushing off the east coast of the US.  There will still be high winds and surf along the east coast this weekend, but the tropical characteristics of Danny are non-existent.

Also, the tropical wave moving across the Atlantic – the one that could have become tropical storm Erika, if named – has not organized as originally anticipated.  The naming of Erika will have to wait a little while.

For the record, September 10 marks the peak day of hurricane season.
